Course Overview
Candle making is one of the most relaxing, rewarding crafts there is — and far easier to start than you might think. With the right guidance, anyone can make beautiful candles at home: the kind you’d happily display, gift, or fill your home with.
In this short, hands-on course, an expert tutor teaches you live, one-to-one — the waxes, wicks, fragrances and techniques — while you make real candles along the way. You’ll go from your first simple container candle to scented, coloured and decorative candles in your own style, with safe, clear guidance at every step.
What You’ll Need (a simple starter kit)
- Wax to start with (soy or beeswax is beginner-friendly)
- Wicks, plus wick holders or stickers
- Heat-safe containers and/or a simple mould
- A melting pot or double boiler, and a thermometer
- Fragrance oil and candle dye (optional to begin with)
- A stirrer and some newspaper to protect surfaces

3 weeks — around eight live classes (can be paced faster or slower)

Do I need any experience?
None at all. We start from the very basics — waxes, wicks and a simple first candle — so complete beginners are perfectly placed to start.
Who is this course for?
Teens and adults (about 14 and above). It’s a lovely creative hobby at any age, and every course is paced to you.
What materials do I need, and are they included?
You’ll buy your own simple supplies — wax, wicks, a container or mould, a melting pot and thermometer, and optional fragrance and dye. They’re easy to find and inexpensive to start, and we’ll send a simple shopping list before your first class. Supplies aren’t included in the course fee.
Is candle making safe?
Yes, with sensible care. Candle making uses hot, melted wax, so your tutor guides you on safe temperatures and handling throughout. Younger teens should have an adult nearby while working with hot wax.
Are classes live or recorded?
Every class is live and one-to-one with your tutor, so you get real-time guidance as you make each candle. Classes are also recorded, so you can revisit any step later.
Is there a group option?
Classes are one-to-one by default. During school holidays we sometimes run small group batches, or you can start your own group with a minimum of 4 learners (up to 6–8) — at 20% less per class. Group batch dates are shared in our ads.
Do you offer a free demo?
Short courses don’t include a free demo, as they run for just a few weeks. Instead, tell us you’re interested and we’ll send you the full course details, so you can decide with everything in front of you.
Will my child get a certificate?
Yes — a certificate on successful completion of the course.
